Donald Zimmer
Donald E. (Pete) Zimmer, 51, of 1914 N. Bond St., Saginaw, died Monday,
Dec. 3, in Saginaw Veterans Hospital following a long illness. Born in Gladwin on June 7,
1928, he served in the Korean War. Mr. Zimmer was a disabled veteran and a member of the VFW
Post 4087 in Davison. He was a general laborer. Mr. Zimmer lived in Abilene, Texas, for eight
years and the past five in Saginaw. He was married to the former Peggy Briggs on September 9,
1953, in Lapeer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Richard and Charles of Saginaw and Calvin of
Prescott; 2 daughters, Mrs. James (Catherine) Sconzo fo Copperas Cove, Texas and Laurel Sherman
of Prescott; his mother, Mrs. Cora Zimmer of Gladwin; 2 brothers, Jack of Gladwin and Alfred of
Bridgeport; 2 sisters, Mrs. Marie Hetherington of Clio and Mrs. Mae Hetherington of Gladwin; and
6 grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel.
The Rev. Donald Bates will officiate and burial will be in the Grout Township Cemetery.
