William Young
William Young, 74, of 1710 N. M-18, Gladwin, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 16,
in McLaren General Hospital, Flint, after a short illness. Born in Uniondale, Ind. on September
28, 1911, he came to Gladwin County in February 1953 from Wells County, Ind. He farmed and raised
draft horses. Mr. Young and the former Dorothy Minniear were married July 5, 1941, in Mississippi.
Surviving are one son, David of Flushing; one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Fuhrman of Decatur, Ind.;
his mother, Bessie Merkey of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 2 brothers, Roger of Taylor and Fred of Bradenton,
Fla.; 2 step-sisters, Dorothy Gray and Helen Risser of Indiana; and 2 grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. Burial will be in the
McClure Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today, Wednesday.
