Ruby Woods
Ruby I. Woods, 94, of Williamsburg, Michigan formerly of Gladwin passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at the Northwood Village Adult Foster Care facility.
She was born March 12, 1913 in Clare County to Orla and Della (Lemon) Reid.
Ruby married Daniel Woods May 21, 1938 in Gladwin. Daniel passed away April 5, 1977.
She had lived in Gladwin all her life. Ruby taught public school for 37 years. She was a member of the Grout Methodist Church, then the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She and Daniel were instrumental in starting the Gladwin County Historical Society.
Surviving are two sons, Joe (Bobbi) Woods of Elk Rapids and Gaven (Mary Jane) Woods of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alberta Mielke of Marysville. Ruby is predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 7, 2008 at Sisson Funeral Home. Pastor Art Watt will officiate and burial will be in Grout Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Gladwin County Historical Society or the Gladwin County District Library.
