Martin Wood
Martin Eliot Wood died June 11 at the home of his son George in Sage township at the age of 77 years and 15 days. He was born in Morpeth, Kent county, Ontario, May 27, 1838. In 1858 he united in marriage with Catharine Pettite. To this union were born two children, William and Margaret. In 1863 his wife died, and in 1865 he was married to Mercy Katharine Jackson. To this union were born two sons, George and James, four daughters, Sarah, Katharine, Maud and Amanda.
He was converted in the M.E. church, Canada 30 years ago, and since then lived a consistent Christian life. He is survived by two sons, George and James Wood, four daughters, Mrs. Al. Heath of Chatham, Ont., Mrs. Henry Craig of Northwood, Canada, Mrs. Maud Bell, Chrishom, Minn., and Mrs. F.E. Atchinson of Gladwin, also 29 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters. Services were held Sunday afternoon at Wagarville church at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Wade.
