Herbert M. Wood

SERVICES HELD FOR HERBERT WOOD

   Services were held Saturday for Herbert M. Wood, 76, of Gladwin, who died Wednesday, Dec. 25, following an illness of 10 days. Born in Tillotsonbury, Ont., Canada, May 16, 1892, he had been a resident of Gladwin County for 70 years. He was a member of the city volunteer fire department for 55 years until retiring in 1966. Mr. Wood was employed as a truck driver for the Gladwin Flouring Mills, retiring in 1964, after 30 years.

   He and the former Effie Bryan were married in Gladwin on August 7, 1914. Surviving are his wife, Effie of Gladwin; three sons, Clare of Tampa, Fla., Darrel of Beaverton and Rex of DeWitt; a stepson, Milton Reigle of Marshall; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Behnke of Gladwin and Mrs. May Vannatter of Houghton Lake; and 18 grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home. Allen Parker officiated and burial was in the Ridge Cemetery.
