Evan Wood
Evan G. Wood, 68, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007, after his plane crashed in Ohio.
He was born on July 11, 1938 in Midland to Ivan and Erma (Lambert) Wood.
He graduated form Midland High School in 1956 and served as a military police officer for the U.S Army in Germany from 1956-1959 Evan founded Wood Electric in Gladwin. During his many years in Gladwin, he was also a member of the Lion’s Club and Masonic Lodge After moving to Punta Gorda in 1986, he started a second business, Advanced Electrical. While in Florida, he was a member of the American Legion and Elks Club In July 1993, Evan received his pilot’s license, and he made many trips to Michigan and around the country in his Cessna 172 and his RV-7A airplanes.
He will be loved forever and sorely missed by family and friends Evan is survived by his wife, Sally Ann Wood of Punta Gorda, Florida; three children, Krysta (Bryan) Brubaker of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Randal (Corrine) Wood of Gladwin, and Joel (Angela) Wood of Coleman; grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Brubaker of Colorado, David, Daniel and Michael Wood of Michigan, Joshua Love of Michigan, and Jessica and Travis Wood of Michigan; greatgrandchildren, Abbeygale Wood and Camron Wood of Michigan; twin brother, Ivan (Sherry) Wood of Midland, Jane (Ronald) Fauver of Sanford, and former wife, Eleanor (Cuddie) Wood of Sebastian, Florida.
A memorial service is at 1 p.m on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 1300 Bartlett St. in Gladwin.
