William Woessner

LAST SPANISH WAR VET PASSES


  Services were held Monday at 3:30 p.m. for William Woessner, 90, of Beaverton, who died Friday in the Saginaw Veteran's Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Woessner, is believed to be the last Spanish-American War veteran living in Gladwin County.

  Born in Nulltown, Ind. on Oct. 16, 1874, he had been a resident of the county for the past 44 years. He was married to the former Lottie Kennedy, who preceded him in 1957. Only nieces and nephews survives him.

  Rites were held from the Hall Funeral Home under the auspices of the Beaverton V.F.W. no. 7303. The Rev. Gordon Showers officiated and burial was in the Beaverton Cemetery. .
