Oscar Wirtz
Oscar Wirtz, 86, of Butman Township, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Provincial
House Nursing Home, Midland following an illness of three years. Born in Gladwin County on Oct.
22, 1888, he had spent his lifetime here and was a farmer and stock dealer. Mr. Wirtz was a
veteran of World War I and a member of the Gladwin WW I Barracks. He was married to the former
Vera Vannatter on Aug. 15, 1908, in Gladwin. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 1962.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Orma) Doede of Beaverton and Mrs. Larry (Doreen)
Redman of Hope; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were held Friday at 2
p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. Elder Raymond Reeder officiated and burial was in the
Ridge Cemetery.
