Melvin Winkler
Melvin J. Winkler, 77, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away suddenly at home Aug. 3, 2002.
He was born Nov. 28, 1924 to Charles and Blanch (Thompson) Winkler in Flint.
Melvin married the former Dolores Anderson on Sept. 28, 1945 in Gladwin. He lived in Gladwin County most of his life and worked as a machine operator for The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, retiring in 1982 after 36 years of service.
Melvin was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Odd Fellows of Gladwin, and VFW Post 7303.
He predeceased by his parents, and his brothers; Freddie, Henry and Ferman.
Surviving are one son, James (Phyllis) Winkler of Gaines, Michigan; grandson James Jr. (Leslie) Winkler of Marquette; sister, Marion Wiles of Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, Aug. 7) at 3 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with the Rev. Donald Haskell officiating. Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post 7303.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wagarville United Methodist Church or VFW Post 7303.
