John H. Wilcox
Dies Suddenly At A Ripe Old Age In Clement Twp.
Had Been Resident Of Gladwin County For Many Years
John H. Wilcox died suddenly at his home in South Clement, Oct. 30 at a ripe age.
He had been in poor health a number of years, but was up and around within a moment of his death,
the immediate cause of which was an affection of the heart, termed valvular insuffiency. He leaves
a widow, seven boys and two girls, also seven grandchildren, and a host of friends to mourn his death.
Mr. Wilcox was an old and highly respected resident of Gladwin county, having settled near Edenville inn
the '70s. Of late years he has been a resident of Clement township, having started what is known as the
Wilcox settlement there. He had reached the age of 73 years, 1 month and 20 days. Funeral services were
held Sunday, conducted by Rev. J. N. Wilson. Interment in McClure cemetery.
