Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Miles Wilbur


   Miles Wilbur died May 15 at the the home of his s ster, Mrs. W. J. Scott at Dale, of tuberculosis, in his 34th year. He was born in Billings, in this county, June 11, 1872, his parents being among the first settlers in that township. When 13 years old he came to Gladwin, attending schbol here, and remained four years, then going west, remaining 16 years, during which time he was engaged in railroading, part of the time as locomotive engineer, and ranching, being in good circumstances when his health failed,, four years ago, and a year ago he returned to Michigan to spend his last days with his sisters. He spent most of his time in the west in California and Montana, and had travelled in other states in hope of recovering his health. Be was able to be about until Saturday before his death, when he took to his bed. His parents died some time ago, and three sisters are all of the family left. They are Mrs. W. J . Scott of Dale, Mrs. James Fairchild of Beaverton and Mrs. Hugh Thurlow of LaPorte. Funeral services were held Thursday at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. J. Scott, conducted by Rev. A. C. Au tin. Interment took place in Highland cemetery, Gladwin. The burial was conducted with Masonic honors, under auspices of Gladwin lodge. Mr. Wilbur was a member of the F. & A. M. lodge at Missoula, Mont., and had taken part of the K. T. degrees.
