Roy E. Whitney
RE-BURIAL SERVICES HELD FOR SOLDIER
Sgt. Roy E. Whitney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Whitney, of Highwood, was brought to Pinconning on
Friday for reburial in the Albright cemetery on Friday afternoon. Sgt. Whitney was born
in Highwood on October 6, 1923, and served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps. He
enlisted on January 6, 1942, and trained at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, before being
sent to England in October of 1942. He died on January 27, 1943, in the European theatre.
Surviving are his parents, four brothers, Duwayne
at home, Bruce of Caro, and Russell and Ervin, both of
Genesee county; four sisters, Dell, Edwina and Goldie,
at home, and Mrs. Beatrice Coomer, of Highwood.
Funeral services were under the auspices of the
Beaverton American Legion Post.
