Wilbur Whitmer
Wilbur R. Whitmer, 68, of Holland, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, in Butterworth
Hospital, Grand Rapids, following an illness of several months. Born in Alto, he llived as
a child in Beavertn and in the Holland, Grand Rapids area since 1938. He served in the U.S.
Army with the 126th Infantry in World War II. In 1948 he joined the U.S. Postal Service and
was assigned to Holland, Grand Rapids Center in 1955. He retired in 1973. Mr. Whitmer was a
member of the First United Methodist Church and V.F.W.
Surviving are his sister, Mae Whitmer, with whom he made his home, and uncle and aunt Mr.
and Mrs. John Whitmer of Beaverton.
