Edgar L. Whitmer
RITES HELD FOR EDGAR WHITMER
Edgar L. Whitmer, 77, died July 15 in Greenville, Ohio, following a four months illness. Born Jan. 22, 1889, in Shelby County, Ohio, he came to Beaverton in 1902. An employee of Dow Chemical Company, he made his home in Midland for a number of years, and following his retirement lived in Florida., for 15 years. He went to his daughter's home in Greenvile recently. Mr. Whitmer and the former Miss Sylvia Fike were married in Beaverton March 29, 1914. He was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren.
Survivors are his wife; Sylvia; threee daughters, Mrs. Lola Snyder of Midland, Mrs. Lois Wilt of Coleman, Mrs. Erma Marlin of Greenville, Ohio; one son, Alton, of Midland; a sister, Mrs. Martha Dodge, of Lake Odessa; a brother, John, of Beaverton; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Randall Roose officiating. Burial was in Dale Cemetery.
