Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Glenn Whipple

   Glenn Dare Whipple, 79, of Beaverton died Aug. 22, 2005 at home. He was born in Lake Orion on June 28, 1926 to Jasper and Beulah (Roe) Whipple.

   He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a truck driver for Tru-Bilt Redi Mix in Pontiac until he retired 16 years ago. He lived in Gladwin County for 16 years, having previously resided in Fenton. He married the former Sally Watson in Davisburg on July 24, 1964. He was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene and former chaplain of the Local Disabled American Veterans. He was also former school board president of the Creative Learning Academy.

   Surviving are his wife, Sally Whipple of Beaverton; five children, Nancy (Allan) Jones and Thomas (Casarie) Martin, both of Fort Myers, Florida, Leslie (Donald) Clark of Holly, Renay (Paul) Schlaack of Beaverton, and Glenn II (Patricia) Whipple of Benton, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren and several Great grandchildren; one brother, Aubrey C. Whipple of West Bloomfield Township; one sister, Beulah E. Whipple of West Bloomfield Township; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Raymond and Samuel. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. at Beaverton Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Moore and Rev. Glenn Whipple II officiating. Burial will be in Beaverton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 12 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Church of the Nazarene, 540 Lang, Beaverton.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund or American.
