Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Beatrice Wavra

   Beatrice C. Wavra, 95, of Standish, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at Bay Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 14, 1910 in Detroit to Frank and Mary (Purol) Kopka.

   She was married to Michael Wavra in 1943 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pinconning. Beatrice was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to cook and to garden.

   She was a member of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish and was very close to the Lord and will be greatly missed. Beatrice was a homemaker who was a great cook. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Wavra, Delores Wavra and Joann Barton, all of Standish; her son, Donald (Kathleen) Wavra of Gladwin; her sisters, Irene Hodak of Detroit, Verna Kozara of Detroit and Reta Benton of Nevada; one brother, Leo (Dorothy) Kopka of Dearborn; and grandchildren, Michael (Melinda) Wavra and Katie Wavra. She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Donald, Frank and Joe; sisters, Blanche McQuarter and Hilda Dunham; and one granddaughter.

   A funeral service was held Friday, June 2 at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish, with Father James Fitzpatrick officiating.

   The family would like to thank Dr. Raza, Dr. Joseph and the staff of second floor CCU for the care given to Beatrice at Bay Regional Medical Center. She was well loved by all.
