C. V. Watson
C. V. Watson, 79, of 1100 North State St., Gladwin, died Wednesday, Aug. 26,
in the Clare Nursing Home. Born in Knott County, Ky., on May 6, 1902, he moved to Mt. Pleasant
in 1931 and to Gladwin County in 1934. He was employed by Sun Oil Co. for several years and was
a self-employed well driller from 1947 to 1968, when he retired. Mr. Watson was a member of the
Gladwin Masonic Lodge 397 F & AM, Bay City Consistory and Shriners and the Well Drillers Association.
Mr. Watson and the former Bonnie Teel were married October 31, 1925, in Catlettsburg, Ky. She
preceded him in death on July 29, 1980.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Waneda) Wilkin of Reed City; one son, Jack of Gladwin; 2
brothers, Mitchell of Alkal, W. Va. and Mainus of Mousie, Ky.; 5 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Stamper of
Littcarr, Ky., Mrs. Sina Dunn of Chesapeake, Ohio, Mrs. Josephine Wallen of Mousie, Mrs. Bell Smith
and Mrs. Rachael Deacon of Huntington, W. Va.; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home with burial in the Highland
Cemetery. The funeral service and burial was handled by the Masonic Lodge.
