William Waltenburg
William Waltenburg, 80, of 2099 Wagarville Rd., Gladwin, died Saturday, Feb.
26. Stricken suddenly at his home, he was dead on arrival at the Gladwin Area Hospital. Born
in Alpena, July 1, 1896, he was a veteran of World War I, and wa a member of the Gladwin County
VFW Post. A retired livestock dealer and farmer. Mr. Waltenburg was well-known throughout Gladwin
County. He and former Olean Jacobs were married in Onaway on October 15, 1922, and they moved to
Gladwin County in 1934.
Surviving in additon to his wife, Olean, are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nest) Soldan of Hemlock;
2 sons, William L. of Phoniex, Ariz., and Glen of Saginaw; 2 sisters, Mrs. Norah Bogel of Muskegon,
and Mrs. Floyce Dayson of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel, with the Rev.
Wayne Jensen officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery.
