Rod Wagner
Rod L. Wagner, 56, of Midland, died Wednesday evening, April 20, 2005, at Brittany Manor after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 23, 1948 in Alma, son of the late Edwin and Norma (Robertson) Wagner and was a graduate of Gladwin High School, Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science, and Central Michigan University. On February 3, 1968 he married Linda Belland. Rod served as Director of the Midland County Chapter of American Red Cross for over 30 years and was also a licensed funeral director, associated with Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors for over 25 years. He was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was an ordained chaplain serving the Geneva Hope United Methodist Church in Coleman and the Mapleton United Methodist Church. Rod served his community by sitting on various community and professional boards, coached and played soccer, but his greatest thrill that really made his world by being with his family, especially his five grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Linda is his son, Jeff Wagner and his children, Samantha, Alexandra, and Michaela, and his daughter, Jenni Rokosz and her husband Tom and their children, Hannah and Dylan. Also surviving is his brother and sister and their spouses, Gary and Sue Taylor and Lana and Larry Price, all of Midland; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Garth and Hazel Belland of Ludington, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place Monday, April 25 at First United Methodist Church in Midland. Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth, Rev. Douglas Trebilcock, Rev. David Stout, Rev. Terry Turner and Rev. Phil Rice officiated with private family burial in the Midland City Cemetery.
