Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Sharon Vick

   Sharon Louise (Aldrich) Vick, 63, of Ojai, California died Thursday at Ojai Medical Center.

   She was born in Midland on Oct. 10, 1942, the daughter of Laurence Aldrich and the late Mabel (Willman) Shanley.

   She was known as Ojai’s “Garden Lady.” Many sought her vast knowledge of gardening and helped many to design and create beautiful palettes of color all through Ventura County. Once she was featured in the LA Times. She had many garden teas and garden tours in her beloved garden.

   She took great pleasure in her children and beamed when she spoke of her grandchildren. She loved photography and traveling. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and her smile lit up every room.

   She is survived by her children, Kimberly (Alan) Carter of Mountain View, California, Brandon Beau Vick of San Francisco, California, Nolan (Jenifer) Vick of Ojai California, and Ryan Vick of Los Angeles, California; her father, Laurence Aldrich and loving stepmother, Faye Aldrich; her grandchildren, Joseph Carter, Jessica Carter, Sadie Vick and Charlotte Vick; her brothers and sisters, Larry (Rudie) Aldrich, Pat Harry, Don (Joy) Aldrich, Nancy (Dave) Roehrs, Rick (Ann) Aldrich, Judy (Stan) Rowe, Jonnie (James) Stark and Melinda Woods; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Mable (Willman) Shanley and her brother Brent Connor Shanley.

   A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 at the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Shepherd.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice, Midland Community Cancer Svcs, or American Diabetes Assoc.
