Mae Vannatter
Mae Adeline Vannatter, 78, of LaCrescenta, Calif. had formerly of Gladwin, died Sunday, June 15, followning a long illness. Born in Gladwin on December 14, 1901, she graduated from Gladwin High School and County Normal. She also attended Central Michigan College and taught in Buckeye Township for 11 years. The former Mae Wood, she was married to Ernest Vannatter on October 16, 1920. They operated an automobile repair garage in Gladwin for many years and later a resort at Houghton Lake. Following the death of her husband, she made her home in LaCrescenta with her daughter, the Rev. Annalee Weatherly.
Other survivors are 2 grandchidren and 4 great grandchildren. A brother Herb Wood and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Behnke of Gladwin, also preceded her in death. A memorial service was held at The Spiritual Sanctuary in LaCrescenta last Wednesday.
