Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 

   Ernest Vannatter, 73, of Houghton Lake, died Friday, Jan. 30, at his home at 4248 W. Houghton Lake Dr. He was born in Gladwin Township on December 19, 1902, to Arthur and Anamelia Garbet Vannatter. Mr. Vannatter operated Vannatter's Garage in Gladwin for several years. He moved to Standish and then to Houghton Lake in 1944 where he built and operated Vannatter's Resort until 1956. After selling the resort, he was a self-employed builder until his retirement in 1962. He and the former Mae Wood were married on October 16, 1920, in Gladwin.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Annalee Weatherly of Glendale, Calif.; two brothers, Ray of Flint and Al of Englewood, Fla.; two grandsons and one granddaughter. Services were held Monday, Feb. 2, at 1:30 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. John Pruden officiating. Entombment was in the Highland Mausoleum.
