Roy Uhl
Roy W. Uhl, 93, of 3200 Pratt Lake Rd., Gladwin, died Wednesday, Aug. 11,
in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, following a short illness. Born in Dover, Minn, on June 1,
1889, he was an electrician lineman for Detroit Edison until 1932. Mr. Uhl came to Gladwin in
1932 from Rochester and farmed and died genera repair work. He was a veteran of World War I
and a member of the Gladwin County VFW 7303, the World War I Barracks, Billings Senior Citizens
Club, Masonic Lodge and the Golden Agers Club. He was married May 6, 1929, to Roxey Waugh in
Byron, Ohio. She died September 9, 1965. Mr. Uhl married Leona Knight on May 17, 1967, in Gladwin.
She precede him in death July 16, 1978.
Surviving are 4 step-daughters, Mrs. Walter (Margaret) Gardner of Grass Lake, Mrs. Delvin
(Maxine) Cassiday and Mrs. Carlton (Geneva) Elwood of Gladwin and Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Walters of
West Branch; 2 step-sons, Glenn and Daniel Knight of Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Marion Heim of St.
Charles, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Skeel's Baptist Church. The Rev. Carl Briggs
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. A Masonic service was held Saturday at 8 p.m.
at the Hall Funeral Home.
