Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
Peter Torrez


  Peter Torrez, 53, of 5184 Pleasant Dr., Beaverton, died Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Saginaw Sept. 9, 1932, he had spent his lifetime in Gladwin County. He was employed by Continental Can in Midland and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Torrez was a past commander and a member fo the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303.

  Surviving are 3 sons, Joseph of Naples, Fla., Kurt and Vincent of Beaverton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Shawn) McCoy and Mrs. Anthony (Kelly) Sargent of Beaverton; his mother, Mrs. Ricarda Torrez of Saginaw; 5 brothers, Charles of Florida, Richard, Daniel and Thomas of Saginaw and David of Bay City; 7 sisters, Loretta Molina and Josephine Espinosa of Saginaw, Henrietta Roberson, Hope O'Keefe, Treasa Beale and Mary Winslow of Midland and Vickie Sanchez of Auburn; and 3 grandchildren. Two sisters, Gloria Uhlman and Gladys Chavez, preceded him in death.

  Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Father Joseph Schabel officiated and burial was in the Billings Township Cemetery. A Wake service was held Monday at 8 p.m. .
