Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Mary Thorington

   Mary C. Thorington , 85, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003. She was born Oct. 23, 1918 in Putnam County, Ohio to Robert and Clara (Fritz) Bushong. Mary married Max A. Thorington on Oct. 27, 1940 in Gladwin. He passed away in 1981. She lived in Gladwin most of her life and the past two and a half years at Tendercare Nursing Home in Midland. Mary was a member of the Crump Church of God and the Log Cabin Church of God, Gladwin. She loved flowers and was an avid flower gardener. Mary was active at the nursing home with activities and helping and caring for other patients there.

   Surviving are one son, Allen “Ted” (Joyce) Thorington of Linwood; one daughter, Sharon (Denny) Russell of Midland; a daughter-in-law, Jan Thorington of Midland; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Pat) Bushong of Gladwin; one sister-in-law, Nellie Bushong of Gladwin; and several nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by three children, John, Kay and Max Jr.; two brothers, Grover and John; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

   Services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003) at the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin. Pastor Jim Hoggard will officiate and burial will be in Butman Township Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Tendercare Nursing Home Activities Fund or Heartland Hospice.
