Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Mabel Thompson

   Mabel G. Thompson, 82, of Gladwin passed away at her home Dec. 11 following a long illness.

   She was born in Camp Run, West Virginia on May 8, 1925 to James and Audra (Morrison) Smith.

   She was a homemaker and had lived in Gladwin County since 1991, previously residing in Union Lake.

   Mabel married Donald Thompson on Sept. 25, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1999.

   She is survived by her six daughters, Glenda (Art) Wykoff of Gladwin, Ginger (David) Johnson of Panama, Susie (Chris) Rash of Union Lake, Donna (Ken) Moffat of Battle Creek, Gail (Jerry) Hayden of Tellico Plains, Tennessee and Margaret (Lonnie) Scharschu of Sweetwater, Tennessee; two sons, Jim (Barb) Thompson of Holly and Don (Carol) Thompson of Etowah, Tennessee; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Margaret Harper, Dottie and Andy Anderson, Tommy Lynn Smith, Bonnie and Leon Peal, Linda Letart, Janet and James Halstead, all of West Virginia, and Gary Wayne Smith of Texas.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, James and Audra Smith of West Virginia; brothers and sisters, John Smith, Susie Letart, Gene Smith, James Smith of West Virginia, and Ebb Smith of Orion.

   Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 15 at Hall- Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Dave Quick officiating.
