Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Lewis Thomas

   Lewis E. “Lew” Thomas, 63, of Butman Township, died Saturday, Jan. 21 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw following an illness of several months. He was born March 26, 1942 in Gladwin, son of Kenneth and Margaret (Yeager) Thomas and had been a life long area resident. He married the former Joyce E. Doan and she survives. A member of the Hockaday Community Church, Lew was a long distance truck driver for many years and he enjoyed fishing trips and was known to stop on road trips when he thought the fishing might be good. In addition to his wife, Joyce, survivors include three sons, Kenneth H. (Tracy) Thomas, Edward L. Thomas and Andrew B. (Lynn) Thomas, all of Gladwin; six grandsons, Brandon, Christopher, Dustin, Chad, Dalton and Cory, and two Greatgrandsons, Logan and Wyatt; two brothers, Glen (Shirley) Thomas and Rowland (Dawn) Thomas, both of Gladwin; and a sister, Joanne Shultz of Cadillac.

   Funeral services will be held at Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Donald Smith officiating. Burial will be in Butman Township Cemetery. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Lew’s name, consideration may be given to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Midland, Hospice of Gladwin, or the Hockaday Community Church Building Fund.
