George E. Thomas
While coming from Coleman with Frank Cornell, Oct. 9, George E. Thomas fell from the back seat of the car in which they were riding and sustained injuries from which he died next day. When about three miles south of Beaverton, the lights on the car went out and Mr.
Cornell stopped the car as quickly as possible. On looking back he saw by the light of a following auto Mr. Thomas lying in the road behind the car. How he came to fall from the car is unknown. Mr Cornell ran back and pulled him from the road and Rev. Father Van Colen, driver of the approaching car, assisted in taking the injured man to Dr. Heslop`s office in Beaverton, where he remained unconscious until he died.
Funeral services were held in the M. E. church in Beaverton conducted by Rev. Perry Arnold, and burial took place in Beaverton cemetery. The deceased leaves a wife, a son six weeks old, a stepson 14 years old, mother and sister living at Garrett, Va., and a brother Walter of Toledo, Ohio. A daughter, father and two sisters have gone before.
