David Szumal
David M. Szumal, 64, of Gladwin passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin.
He was born on July 27, 1942 in Macomb County, a son of the late Bronislas and Alice (Beard) Szumal.
On July 13, 1978, he was united in marriage with Sandra Jackson in Mount Clemens. The couple have lived in Fair Haven and at their present address since 1997.
Dave worked as a brick mason for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Brick Masons Union and the Meredith Hunt Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; five children, Cynthia (Shelton) Silcox of Mount Clemens, Kathy Edwards of Mount Clemens, Claudette Youngs of Macomb Township, Paul (Jennifer) Badger of Algonac, and Karen Szumal of Harrison; one brother, Thomas (Janice) Szumal of New Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Dave was predeceased by two sons, David and Matthew Szumal.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens with the Rev. Father Michael N. Cooney officiating.
Burial followed in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Clinton Township.
