John Swanton
JOHN C. SWANTON DIES FOLLOWING ACCIDENT
Funeral services for John C. Swanton, 78, pioneer resident of Gladwin county and well known in Gladwin and Midland counties, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 at the Methodist church. Mr. Swanton died from the affects of a fall suffered Tuesday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Shirley Brown of Detroit, where he was visiting. He received a skull fracture and was enroute to his home here by ambulance when his death occurred. He was born in St. Thomas, Canada, December 25, 1863 and had been a long time resident of Tobacco township.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Harley Quelet of Beaverton; two sons, Hazen of Midland and Bradford of Beaverton; two brothers, Dr. L. Swanton of Traverse City and Edenville, and Sidney of Secord township, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Kessler also of Secord township; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial was in Edenville cemetery.
