William Suszko

   William Suszko, 78, of Gladwin, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at his home on Wiggins Lake.

   William Suszko born on June 1, 1929 in Gibson Township, Bay County. He was the ninth child born to Mikael and Nellie (Giba) Suszko.

   In April of 1954, he married Wanda Jean Frank at St. Michael’s Byzantine Church in Flint. They divorced in 1981. On Dec. 12, 1981 he married Florence (Raymond) Zavorski in Standish, Arenac County.

   After graduating from Standish High School in 1947, William continued the familyowned dairy farm five miles west of Standish. He operated the farm until his retirement in 1999.

   Bill had a passion for farming and assisted area farmers whenever needed. Likewise, he loved his family and held his children and grandchildren close to his heart. He also loved cards, and played euchre six days a week. Other activities he enjoyed were gardening, wood working, deer hunting and helping others whenever the need arose.

   Suszko was a member of the Moose and Eagle lodges of Albright Shores. William is survived by his wife, Florence; three children, Lugene (Lynn Daniels) of Whittemore, David (Louann Stange) of Standish, and Valerie (Terry Opdyke) of Mason. Five grandchildren also survive him, Machele (Eric Brown) of Adrian; Scott Suszko of Twining, Rachel Suszko of Standish, and Mary Daniels and Luke Daniels of Whittemore. He is also survived by two sisters, Katherine Polenz of Waterford and Judy Reid of Omer; three brothers, Mike of Phoenix, Arizona, Andy of Sterling Heights and Donald of Warren. He is survived by five step-children, Shirley, Michael, Kenneth, Stephen and Doug; ten stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat- grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna and Mary (Jacob Sawka); and two brothers, John of Constantine and Nickolas of Hazel Park.

   Funeral services will be held noon today, Oct. 3, 2007 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Devin Chisholm officiating.

   Memorial contributions can be made to Big Boys Club- Wooden Shoe. Hall Funeral Home of Gladwin handled the arrangements.
