Stephan Stutzman
Stephan Stutzman of Albany, Oregon, formerly of Gladwin, passed away Tuesday, June 6 at the Timberview Care Center in Albany, Oregon. He was born in 1914 in Pancover, Yugoslavia. He came to the United States with his mother when he was five years old, passing through Ellis Island. After eighth grade, he lived with his grandmother in Gladwin. He joined the army at age 20, serving as a clerk for three years. After his discharge, he started barber training. In 1940 he married Aldena Flach also from Gladwin; they had four daughters. He was a barber for 30 years and a factory worker for nine years. He spent most of his life in Michigan, but lived about 14 years in Tucson, Arizona, and almost eight years in Albany, Oregon (five of them in a nursing home with dementia). He will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Aldena; three daughters, Carol Stutzman of Albany, Oregon, Virginia Hughes of Auburn, and Linda (Gary) Nussear of Saginaw; and six grandchildren and several Great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Arlene Lewis. Funeral services took place on Saturday, June 10 at Gephart Funeral Home in Bay City with Rev. Daniel C. Meckes officiating. Burial followed in Floral Gardens Cemetery.
