Richard Steele
Richard Steele, 52, of 2832 McCulloch Rd., Beaverton, died Thursday, April
19, at his home following a long illness. Born in Beaverton Township on March 17, 1932, he had
spent his lifetime here. Mr. Steele retired in 1983 as a crew leader in the Aspirin Dept. at
Dow Chemical Co. He served in the Army in Korea and was assistant scoutmaster for the Gladwin
Boy Scout Troop 679. He was married to the former Rose Crosby May 3, 1952, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, ET3 Robert in the Navy in Groton, Conn.; one
daughter, Cristyn; at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Moomaw of Gladwin; one brother,
Floyd of Midland; 3 sisters, Mrs. Armeda Cameron of Gladwin, Mrs. Susan Kroll of Beaverton and
Mrs. Lucille Windover of Midland; one step-brother, Dean Steele of Prudenville; 3 step-sisters,
Marie Raymond of Warren, Donna Warner of Houghton Lake and Eva Vogt of Atlanta, Ga.; and one
grandson. A son, Joseph, preceded him in death November 26, 1977.
Services were held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Donald
Bates officiated and burial was in the Grout Township Cemetery.
