Nelson R. Steele, Sr.
Nelson R. Steele, Sr., 78, of Beaverton, died suddenly Wednesday, October 4.
Born in Tobacco Township May 29, 1894, he had spent his lifetime in Gladwin County. A World War
I veteran, he was a member of the American Legion in Beaverton, WWI Barracks in Gladwin and the
VFW in Midland.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Helen) VanHorn and Mrs. Merlin (Rosemarie) Wooley, both
of Beaverton; one son, Nelson R. Jr., of Gladwin; a sister, Miss Helen Steele in Massachusetts;
and six grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, and burial was in Dale
Cemetery.
