Phillip Spencer
Phillip W. Spencer, 82, of Greenup, Kentucky, formerly from Beaverton, died Sunday, March 13 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 7, 1922 in Clay Lick, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles and Clara Dingus Spencer. He was a retired welder-pipefitter, a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 85 in Saginaw, and a WWII U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Grace Wilson Spencer; three children, Phillip Spencer, Jr. and Linda Roup (formerly of Beaverton) of Greenup, Kentucky, and Roger Spencer of Midland; a brother, David Spencer of Kettering, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Combs of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Rob Roup of Beaverton, Roger Spencer, Jr. and Dee Dee Spencer of Midland, Kristian Roup, Rachael Thomas, Jeffery Spencer, Lisa Stevens and Tracy Logan of Greenup, Kentucky; and 10 Great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan and Monty Joe, and a sister, Emily Gillispie.
