James Spencer
James J. Spencer, 79, of Bay City died Thursday, April 19, at the Veterans
Facility in Grand Rapids, following a long illness. A former Beaverton resident, he had lived
the past 25 years in Bay City. Born in Deckerville October 20, 1893, he was a World War I
veteran and a farmer. His wife, the former Bertha Shorts, died August 7, 1957.
Surviving are a son, James of Little Rock, Ark.; and one sister, Mrs. Moses Ostic of Beaverton.
Services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, and burial was in
Highland Cemetery. The Revs. F. E. Voller and Richard Spencer officiat.
