John Spence
SPENCE --- Died in Billings, Aug. 30, John Spence,
aged 35 years and 5 months. Mr. Spence was a native of
Ireland. He immigrated to Canada in 1851, and from
there removed to this state in 1866, and at last came
to Gladwin county to seek a home for himself and
family. He was at one time a member of the Methodist
church, but backslid, notwithstanding which he led a
very moral life. He was a loving husband and a kind
father, and was highly respected by all who knew him.
We believe, from his appearance while dieing, that he
has gone to swell the number in the Heavenly paradise.
The bereaved wife is very sad in her affliction. May
she give her heart to God and secure her eternal
welfare, that when the Lord calls she can say,
"Welcome, death I long to see my God."
