Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Ken Spann

   Ken Spann, 75, of Beaverton passed away Feb. 1, 2008 at Hernando Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey, Florida.
He was born April 26, 1932 to Leo and Edith (Suzor) Spann in Midland.
Ken married Sharon Aug. 3, 2002 in Beaverton.
Ken worked in the agricultural center at Dow Chemical in Midland; he retired in 1989 after 37 years of employment. He was a United States Army veteran, having served four years in the Korean Conflict.
He had lived in Gladwin County for 19 years, previously residing in Midland. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #11256; the American Legion Post #171; Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors and National Association of County Veterans Counselors from 1991 to 1999; United Steel Workers of America Local #12075; and Midland and full-time Union representative for Dow Chemical for 10 years. Ken was the post commander of VFW Post #3651 Midland (1968 and 1969) and a lieutenant for Gladwin County Marine Patrol.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon; two sons, Michael Spann of Beaverton and Steven Spann of Coleman; three daughters, Jodi (Rob) VanMeter of Midland, Vicki Fultz of Coleman and Cheryl Calkins of Breckenridge; five stepchildren; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; three brothers, James Spann of Sanford, Roger Spann of Saginaw and Duane Spann of New Port Richey, Florida; and one sister, Joan Shangle of Sanford.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 1 p.m. with military honors at the funeral home in Gladwin with Roger Spann officiating.
Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #11256.
