Walter Socher
Walter A. Socher, 81, of Gladwin passed away Nov. 28, 2006 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.
He was born Nov. 20, 1925 to Arthur and Mary (Benson) Socher in Stubinville, Ohio.
Walter was a truck driver for Branch Motors Express in Detroit. He retired in 1984 after 30 years of employment.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. Walter lived in Gladwin County for 22 years. He previously lived in Detroit. He was a member of the VFW Detroit. On Dec. 18, 1948, Walter married Mary Kostelich.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Socher of Gladwin; one son, Arthur (Sandy) Socher of Fowlerville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Socher of Bedford, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cynthia McDevitt; and three sisters, Jaunattia, Dolores and Janet.
Funeral services were Nov. 30, 2006 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. There was a chapel service Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
