Edgar Smith
Edgar H. Smith, 87, of Beaverton, died Sept. 18, 2005 at home following a long illness.
He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on Feb. 18, 1918 to Lee and Birdie (Smith) Smith. He married his wife, Jeannette, on Feb. 17, 1941 in Knoxville, Tennessee; she died in 2002. He was a mechanic at General Motors in Detroit, and served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Gladwin County for 20 years, having previously resided in Taylor. He was former Past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Allen Park.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra (Cleve) Hobbs of Gladwin; three sons, Wayne (Kozetta) Smith of Taylor, Michael (Lisa) Smith of Beaverton, and Kirk (Becky) Smith of Grosse Ile; grandchildren Erick and Brandon Smith, Bryan Smith, Annie Ficek, Shane and Chad Smith, Debbie, Deana, Frank, Nikki, Jenessa, Brandy, Ashley, Samantha, Tiffany and Albert Hobbs; Great grandchildren Erica, Adam and Mason Smith, Skylar and Lillie Ficek, and Danny and Derrick Bass; and one sister, Pearl Webb of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was predeceased by his parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
A memorial service was held Sept. 24 at Church of Christ in Gladwin, with Pastor Tony Reynolds officiating.
