Donald Smith Jr.
Donald W. Smith, Jr., 35, of 701 Wildes, Midland, died Monday, June 29, in
the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Saginaw Oct. 13, 1951, he graduated from Midland High
School in 1969 and served in the Navy. He had worked at Dow Chemical Co. for 12 years in the
agricultural herbicide products. Mr. Smith was a member of the Midland Assembly of God Church
and an avid sportsman. He and the former Kathy Hoyt were married April 15, 1981, in Midland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Dustin, at home; one daughter, Mylinda, at home;
a stepson, Nicholas Hafelein of Coleman; a stepdaughter, Michelle Hafelein of Coleman; and 2
sisters, Pamela Smith of Beaverton and Renee Abbe of Bradenton, Fla.
Rites were held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Midland Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Joel
Stocker officiated and burial was in the McClure Cemetery, Gladwin. Arrangements were in charge
of the Ware-Smith-Woolever and Co. Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church.
