Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
George Sloas Jr.

   George Leonard Sloas Jr., 67, of Gladwin passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at the West Branch Regional Medical Center.

   He was born June 28, 1939 in Russell, Kentucky to George and Goldie (Picklesimer) Sloas.

   George married Linda Matney on Dec. 19, 1959 in Ironton, Ohio. He worked for General Motors, retiring in 1985 as a supervisor. George has lived in Gladwin County the past 15 years and was a member of Hockaday Community Church. He loved fishing, hunting, farming and woodworking. George was a caring compassionate man who opened his home and heart to any and all who needed a friend or a father.

   He is survived by his wife, Linda; five children, Cindy Smith of Gladwin, Pam (Rick) Patterson of Ortonville, Randal (Elizabeth) Sloas of Gladwin, Naomi (Randal) Smith of Lake Orion, and George (Jacquelyn) Sloas of Gladwin; 11 grandchildren, Candace, Michael, Sarah, Laura, Amanda, Tiffany, Richard, Steven, Joshua, Robbie and Kevin; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Jacob; four sisters, Delores, Frances, Linda and Nancy; and one brother, Charles.

   Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at Sisson Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Smith will officiate and burial will be in Edwards Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
