Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
James Skym Sr.

   James E. Skym Sr., 65, of Gladwin passed away at his home in Gladwin on Aug. 10, 2007 following a long illness. He was born in Midland on Jan. 22, 1942 to Eugene and Melissa (Beebe) Skym.

   He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. He was a member of the Gladwin Eagles #3292; he served as president and past president and was also the Bingo chairman. He served as president and past president of the Gladwin Kiwanis and was also active in the Gladwin Little League and Boy Scouts. He was on the Gladwin Rural Urban Fire Department for 14 years.

   James married the former Carolyn Bowen on Oct. 6, 1963 in Gladwin.

   He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Skym of Gladwin; two daughters, Marlynn (Norm) Muma of Gladwin and Dawn (Tony) Priemer of Berkley, Michigan; two sons, James Jr. (Beth) Skym of Delphos, Ohio and Raymond Skym of Gladwin; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Melissa Skym of Midland; four brothers, Frank Skym of Wentworth, Missouri, Tom Skym of Florida, and Larry Skym and Robert (Carol) Skym, both of Midland; two sisters, Ellen (Wayne) Courturier of Beaverton and Patsy (Rod) Leger of Cleveland, Texas; brother-in-law, John Weber of Coleman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. His father, Eugene Skym; and his sister, Betty Weber, preceded him in death.

   A funeral service is scheduled for Aug. 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin with Dick Rogers officiating. He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
