Hiram Simmons
In Sherman Township Expires from Heart Disease—Found by Fishing Party.
Hiram Simmons, son of ex-sheriff R. F. Simmons, was found dead by the side of an unfrequented road in Sherman township Friday evening. The body was discovered by a party returning from a fishing trip, and was observed none too soon to prevent their wagon .passing over it.
It seems that at about 2 p. m. Hiram had started from the house of J. Dobson, where he was staying, to go to the Cedar near by for a fish, going by an old road. When not far on his journey it is thought that he sat down on a log by the side of the road to rest, and upon arising fell dead from heart trouble.
Coroner Clute was called, and upon investigation pronounced the cause of death acute dilatation of the heart. The deceased had been in Gladwin a few days before to consult a doctor, and was in a poor state of health.
The deceased came to Gladwin county with his parents when a small boy, and had grown up here. His age at his death was 38 years, 11 months and 23 days.
Interment took place in Highland cemetery
