Donald Shumway
Donald J. Shumway, 77, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gladwin. He was born in Detroit on Oct. 21, 1927 to the late Earl and Gladys (Seymour) Shumway. He married the former Betty Bowen on March 30, 1946 in Gladwin; she survives him. He was a retired oil field worker and employee for Dow Chemical.
Surviving besides his wife Betty are his children, Judy (Walter) Mertens of Lake George, Linda Hetherington of Gladwin, Vickie (Charles) Brubaker of Beaverton, Deborah (Gary) Mangas and Ronald (Connie) Bell, both of Gladwin; 33 grandchildren and 40 Great grandchildren; one brother, Robert McLay of West Branch; and one sister, Sharon McLay of Dallas, Texas. He was predeceased by a son, Gerald Shumway, and three sisters.
Funeral services were held April 9 at Sisson Funeral Home, with Alisa Wood presiding. Burial was at Billings Township Cemetery.
