Fred Sherman
Fred Sherman, 77, of 1850 N. Hockaday Rd., Gladwin Township, died Thursday,
August 30, at the Gladwin Area Hospital. A life-long resident of Gladwin County, he was born
January 11, 1896, in Gladwin Township, the son of Gilbert and Margaret Long Sherman. Mr. Sherman
was a veteran of World War I serving in the army. He and the former Bernice Turner were married
in Wagarville in 1925. He was employed at Buick Motors in Flint, form 1929 to 1955, in the heat
treat department.
Surviving are his wife Bernice; a son Dale of Gladwin; a daughter, Mrs. James (Coral) Grover
of Hadley; a sister, Mrs. Eva Perrine of Ann Arbor; 3 brothers, Harvey of Gladwin, Lee of Flushing
and Glenn of Clio; and 5 grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Mathews
Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Hatch officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemete.
