Thomas H. Shell
Thomas H. Shell was born in Worth township, Sanilac county, Mich., July 9, 1855, the son of Dennis and Maria Shell, and passed away on Oct. 30, 1926, at the home of his son Earl at Hockaday. His death was due to the effects of a light stroke which he had the first of August. He was married to Beatrice Glendenning Sept. 27, 1879, and to this union were born 12 children, of whom four died in infancy. In the year 1886 he moved to Gladwin county where he has since resided. In April, 1894, he moved on to eighty acres in Butman township which he cleared and made his home until three years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss eight children, Dennis, Will, Earl and Mrs. Cora Southwell of Gladwin, Mrs. Maud Putnam of Essexville, Ray of Ferndale, Mrs. Faye Soldan of Flint and Carl who had left two weeks ago for California, 29 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers besides a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ira Grabil at Hockaday church Monday, Nov. 1, at 1 o'clock, and the body was laid to rest in Ridge cemetery
