Burton G. Shaw
Burton G. Shaw, 77, of Glawin, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, in the Mt. Pleasant
Community Hospital. Born in Hameth on April 20, 1894, he came to Gladwin County in 1930 from
Grayling where he worked for the Pere Marquette Railroad. Mr. Shaw was a retired clerk from
Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was a member of
the American Legion and Gladwin F and AM Lodge No 397. He was married to the former Joy Foutch
on July 14, 1928, in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Burton Jr., of San Pedro, Calif.; one brother
Walter, of Bay City; and five grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the
Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. C. E. Howe will officiate and burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.
A Masonic memorial service wil be held Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral ho.
