Vernon Seltz
ILLNESS FATAL TO VERN SELTZ
Vernon L. Seltz, 43, well-known Secord Township farmer and Gladwin Deputy Sheriff, died
Friday, Oct. 3, following an illness of two and a half years. Born in Gladwin on April 21,
1926, he served 10 years as Secord Township Supervisor. Mr. Seltz was a World War II veteran
of the Air Force, a member of the Michigan Sheriff's Association and the National Farmer's
Organization. He was married to the former Charlotte Smith on Jan. 5, 1946, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lois, of Midland; one son, Keith, of Gladwin;
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Seltz, of Gladwin; four brothers, Clarence, of Lake Tahoe, Calif,
Wilbur, of Rochester, Elmer, of West Branch, and Roger, of Maryland; seven sisters, Mrs. Ella
Vallender, of Beaverton, Mrs. Bertha Raymond, of Gladwin, Mrs. Lora Smith, of Jackson, Mrs. Dortha
DeLair, of Midland, Mrs. Wanda Cornell, of Chicago, Mrs. Veriline Fial, of New York and Mrs. Clara
Carvey, of Alma.
Services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl W. F. Moyer
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
