Samuel Scott
DEATH OF SAMUEL SCOTT
Samuel Scott, a resident of Tobacco for the last 20
years and more, died Tuesday at 9 a.m., aged 72 years
and 3 months. He started to call on Moses Wagner, a
neighbor half a mile from his dwelling, Monday
morning, and when but a short distance on the way was
overcome, falling senseless in the road. A passer-by
aroused him, and helped him to get to Wagner's where
he died the next morning.
Mr. Scott was born in the state of New York, and in
his younger days went to England and enlisted in the
English navy, serving 12 years. He returned to this
country, lived in Genesee county, and from there came
to Gladwin county. He had no relatives known in these
parts.
Funeral services were held at the town hall were
largely attended, the deceased being held in high
esteem by all who knew him. He was a friend to
everybody, especially children, who were very fond of
him. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Scott had been correspondent of the RECORD many
years, and our readers seldom missed a week without
hearing from him.
